Türkiye: A Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Pathway Analysis for the Fertiliser Sector

GTE and ESCON companies are technical contractors, and the Ministry of Industry and Technology is the beneficiary of the “Türkiye: A Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Pathway Analysis for the Fertiliser Sector” project financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The aim of this project is to determine a roadmap for the Turkish fertiliser industry and to harmonise with the European Green Deal in this context.

The greenhouse gas and policy interaction model to be developed and the effects of the EU Emissions Trading System and the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism will be examined by analysing the current situation and emission reduction scenarios within the scope of the project. In the study, which will be contributed by the leading fertiliser producer companies in Turkey, relevant public institutions, and national and international non-governmental organisations, precise results will be obtained about the investment and technology needs for the sector for decarbonisation in the medium and long-term.

Increasing Wastewater Recovery Opportunities in Bursa Demirtas Organised Industrial Zone

GTE has carried out studies for the efficient use of water and increasing the possibilities of recycling wastewater in the facilities located in Bursa Demirtas Organised Industrial Zone (DOSAB).

Due to the expected increase in water consumption in the industry, the impact of climate change on water resources, and the rise in water costs, wastewater recovery opportunities should be increased, and the sustainability of the water provided by DOSAB to its participants should be ensured. While reducing the use of underground water resources in the project, it is aimed to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in international platforms by increasing the rate of recovered water.

Investigation of Wastewater Recovery Opportunities in İzmir Ataturk Organised Industrial Zone (IAOIZ)

GTE studied the possibilities of using existing technologies to recover wastewater produced in the Izmir Ataturk Organized Industrial Zone (IAOSB), one of our country’s leading organised industrial zones.

Since the increasing water demand in the industry can no longer be met sustainably with the existing surface and underground water resources and the water costs increase, the wastewater in IAOSB needs to be recovered and reused. The project’s scope is aimed at creating a secondary water source to be used by the industry.

Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency Platform Project

GTE is a technical consultant within the scope of the “Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency Platform Project” supported by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA) within the Innovative Istanbul Financial Support Programme and carried out in cooperation with the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD Turkey) and Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO). GTE will carry out cleaner production and circular economy analyses for 21 companies operating in Istanbul selected within the project’s scope.

The project aims to increase resource efficiency and circularity in the Istanbul industry, priority sectors and value chains to create a sustainable structure for this and improve stakeholders’ capacities.

Preparation of Ankara Local Climate Change Action Plan

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality’s “Preparation of Local Climate Change Action Plan” project is carried out by GTE. Within the scope of the project, preparation of Ankara’s greenhouse gas emission inventory, preparation of the greenhouse gas emission reduction action plan and adaptation studies against the effects of climate change are carried out.

As a result of the project, it is aimed to contribute to the understanding of climate-friendly and sustainable urbanism in Ankara by creating a holistic roadmap that brings together all the elements of the city with a strategic planning, together with all the stakeholders of the project.

Wastewater Recycling Efficiency Project in Sanliurfa Organised Industrial Zone

Under the consultancy of Istanbul Medeniyet University (Prof. Dr Erkan Sahinkaya), with the support of Karacadağ Development Agency, the “Wastewater Recycling Efficiency Project” executed by GTE is carried out by the priorities of the World Bank-financed Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project financial support program.

The project, which aims to ensure the effective and efficient management of water resources with the Şanlıurfa Organised Industrial Zone, is aimed to be one of the good examples of the green transformation of the industry in our country. Existing technologies for the recovery of wastewater produced in SUOSB were examined, preliminary designs were made, and the approximate investment and operating costs were calculated. Feasibility studies were carried out in which the project was evaluated in terms of economic, technical and environmental aspects.
