We have completed our last training programme, held in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone within the scope of the “Eco-Production: Climate-Friendly Competitiveness Programme” carried out by the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey and for which we are involved as a technical advisor.

The training programme, organized under the coordination of Manisa OIZ Innovation Center and in cooperation with the Zafer Development Agency, hosted significant knowledge and experience sharing by providing participants with comprehensive perspectives on topics such as environmentally friendly production and sustainability.

The main topics presented to the participants within the scope of the programme were as follows:

– Case Study: Emission Inventory Development and Scope 1-2-3 Calculations

– Water Footprint

– EU Green Deal, Sectoral Developments and Reflections on Turkey

– General Evaluation of Available Financing Sources

The project “Cross-Border Climate Vulnerabilities and Remote Impacts of Food Systems of the EU, Turkey and Africa: Trade, Climate Risk and Adaptation (CREATE),” conducted as part of a consortium representing Turkey, Morocco, the Netherlands, and Egypt under the coordination of Ankara University, has been supported within the scope of the H2020 Food Systems and Climate (FOSC) ERA-NET Cofund 2019 call. The closing meeting and stakeholder workshop of the project were held on November 28, 2023, at Ankara University Rectorate.

The event conducted within the scope of the project was coordinated by the Institute of Water Management, Ankara University and led by Prof. Dr. Gökşen Çapar. The meeting addressed key topics such as the impact of climate change on agricultural products, assessment of climate risks in the supply and trade of food products, climate adaptation measures, and policy options.

During the first half of the meeting, significant findings were shared by the project’s leading experts. The second half included a stakeholder workshop where the effects of climate change on grape, hazelnut, apricot, and fig cultivation, as well as potential solutions, were discussed.

The closing event of the project served as a significant knowledge-sharing platform on climate change and food systems.

We have completed the second Steering Committee Meeting under the “Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Roadmap for the Turkish Fertilizer Sector” project. During the meeting, we evaluated the progress made in the project process and determined new steps for the project activities through significant contributions from the participants.

We discussed the green transformation processes in the fertilizer sector, a critical part of the project, focusing on decarbonization efforts in agriculture and food value chains. The meeting was considered a significant step in shaping the roadmap, with guidance from private sector organizations, public institutions, and international organizations.

The project, in which the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey is a beneficiary, is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In the final stages of the project, we aim to promote sustainability and climate-friendly practices in the fertilizer sector.

We aim to determine a roadmap for the Turkish fertiliser sector in line with Turkey’s sustainable development and decarbonisation targets and to comply with the European Green Deal in this context, with the “Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Roadmap for the Turkish Fertiliser Sector” project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with GTE and ESCON as technical contractors and the Ministry of Industry and Technology as the beneficiary.

In the project, we will also identify the investment and technology needs in the fertiliser sector, one of the priority sectors in Turkey’s compliance with the EU Green Deal and the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism (BCRM) processes.

We organized the 1st Industrial Symbiosis Workshop within the Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency Platform Project (DEKVEP), conducted in partnership between SKD Turkey and the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), funded by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA).

45 representatives from various sectors, with a focus on the three priority sectors of the project, namely the plastic, textile, and white goods sectors, have participated in the project. During the workshop, firms discussed the inter-company collaboration opportunities related to waste categories identified in the relevant sectors. We thank all participants for their contributions to the workshop, moderated by our project managers, Ece Akay Demir and Engin Koc.
